Recruiting Has to Escape Your Pocket
Recruiting Has to Escape Your Pocket
Inspired by Grand Master William Clark’s October 14, 2026 Staff Meeting
Martial arts school owners often say they need more students.
But how many invitations did they actually make today?
Grand Master Clark used a simple phrase during the October 14 staff meeting:
“Your 30-day passes have got to escape your pocket.”
That may be one of the simplest recruiting lessons of all.
Recruiting Is Not Something You Save for Later
The pass in your pocket does nothing.
The referral card sitting at the front desk does nothing.
The event flyer in the office does nothing.
The invitation only becomes valuable when someone receives it.
Recruiting opportunities exist everywhere:
- At the gas station.
- At restaurants.
- At local businesses.
- At community events.
- During conversations with parents.
- Inside your own classes.
The question is whether you are actually taking advantage of them.
Make Recruiting a Daily Habit
Do not wait until enrollment is down.
Do not wait until the end of the month.
Do not wait until someone tells you to start recruiting.
Carry the invitations.
Start the conversations.
Ask students to bring friends.
Invite families personally.
Twenty new members begins one conversation at a time.
So before you leave the house tomorrow, put the recruiting tools in your pocket.
Then make sure they do not come home with you.
